I'm going analog—tag along!
In a world full of social media and email news (and news and news), I’m loving my good old-fashioned mailbox where fun stuff and physical gifts arrive in little envelopes and boxes of happiness. That’s why I’m exploring a new (old), slower, more intentional, and more intimate way of staying in touch with my readers.
Send me a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope (SASE). I’ll fill your SASE with stickers, bookmarks, other goodies, and free book swag. You’ll be among the first—and only readers—to know when new books launch. I’ll send you a brief note by good ol’ paper-n-pen snail mail.
💌 Stay up to date on book news
💌 Get fun and free book swag
💌 Enjoy opening your mailbox and finding physical notes and correspondence from yours truly
💌 Enjoy access to limited numbers of free advanced review copies
💌 Ask questions, write back, and feel more involved in the writing process!
You’ll need two envelopes and two stamps.
1) STEP 1
Take envelope #1, address it to yourself, put a stamp on it. DON’T seal it!
2) STEP 2
Take envelope #1. Fold it and put it inside envelope #2.
3) STEP 3
Address envelope #2 to me:
4) STEP 4
Seal envelope #2. Put a stamp on it, enough to get to me in the United States. Put it in the mailbox.
Not in the US?
If you’re outside the US, don’t worry about postage on the inner envelope. I’ll cover postage, and I’ll be over the moon to stuff your envelope with stickers and fun book swag.
If you’ve read some of my social media posts about having Complex PTSD, you might surmise that for me, social media and email writing have been mentally and emotionally deleterious. Using these platforms has triggered emotional flashbacks, so I’m honoring my inner child and avoiding trigger activities. (Have C-PTSD? I highly recommend this book.)
What about my social accounts? With the exception of Patreon, where I’ll still engage directly with readers, I’m leaving my marketing manager in charge of DMs and other correspondence. Social posts from me will be long in coming if at all.
I truly believe that the online hustle has been injurious to my creative process and to getting new books into the hands of my readers (while not markedly outweighing these personal and professional cons with expanded marketing pros). That’s why I’m choosing to go analog. If you want to know more, reach out at the address above, and I’ll be happy to pen pal with you about it!
I very much look forward to hearing from you when I next open my mailbox! Stay safe, stay well, read, write, learn, grow, love. Be very brave. Love yourself. Times are hard, and we never know when they may get harder still—or else better yet! Let’s work toward a more caring and nurturing world together—on and offline.
May your days be supernatural,
~River
